KYBELLA®

Address a Double Chin in Appleton, WI

When it comes to Kybella®, Appleton, WI, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Victoria Moss suggests the injectable for patients who are bothered by their double chin. Always committed to offering advanced treatments, Dr. Moss chose to offer Kybella® because it is minimally invasive and an efficient solution to the problem of stubborn fat.

This is in contrast to other strategies, such as diet and exercise, which may slim down a bulging belly but do not reduce what is known as submental fat—that bulging pocket that collects at the neck. Liposuction is also a common consideration, but as a surgical procedure, it requires patients to accept certain obvious risks and commit to a necessary period of post-procedural healing. Kybella® is an attractive choice for people who want visible results, without the drawbacks and cost of surgery.

How Does Kybella® Work?

Fat cells can grow larger or smaller throughout their life, but once large, there is no guarantee that they will shrink down again—even for someone who makes a committed lifestyle change. However, fat cells can be damaged and destroyed. If their cell membranes are ruptured, fat cells will be processed by the body, reducing the volume in a specific area.

Kybella® is used to damage the cell membranes of unwanted fat cells. The active ingredient in Kybella® is deoxycholic acid, which is found in the digestive system. Dr. Moss, draw on her experience and skill to inject it with precision into the fat cells marked for destruction.

Throughout the weeks after a Kybella® treatment session, the body will break down the damaged fat cells. Patients will notice a gradual reduction in their double chin.

What Is a Kybella® Treatment Like?

Dr. Moss may make several injections into the submental region in order to generate balanced results that harmonize with a patient’s specific features. Despite the numerous injections, a session may be as brief as 15 minutes or less. The area to be treated is iced prior to and right after treatment to minimize discomfort. It is common to have tenderness, swelling, bruising, and numbness for up to a few weeks after treatment. Depending on the person, two to four treatments are usually required.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Kybella®?

This nonsurgical fat-reduction treatment is ideal for adults who want to reduce their double chin—and especially those who have tried diet and exercise, but found lifestyle-based efforts to be unsatisfying. Kybella® has also been successfully used off-label to treat stubborn bra fat, fat around the knees, and, in some cases, the jowls.

Are There Other Options for Fat Reduction?

While Kybella® is effective at reducing a double chin, patients at Excelin Medical Spa can also consider CoolSculpting®, which uses cold to damage fat cells. This nonsurgical treatment can be applied to the submental area, as well as elsewhere on the body.

Dr. Moss and her team have a wealth of experience working with patients who want to address a double chin—as well as other cosmetic issues. The goal of each treatment is to deliver results that complement and enhance each patient’s natural beauty.
